How can I improve my response rate?

Dear Ron,

I've been responding to a number of profiles that match my interests, but I haven't received any response. I think I'm a good looking guy — successful and intelligent, and I know I have some great qualities. I sent the basic "Hi, I read your profile and you seem like a great person...." message, but do you have any advice for a better introduction email?

I sure do: Type anything else.

Your opening line makes you sound like just another sheep in the vast flock. A woman who posts a nice write-up of herself and has an attractive photo will often get dozens of vacuous, vague little emails just like that every day.

So what should you say in your opening note to stand out from the pack of lazy losers who can't think of anything original to write? Good grief, man: You have her whole profile at your fingertips. Pick a detail! Be creative. Be clever. Be original. Stand out.
